December 2010 Newsletter

MINNEKAHTA QUILTERS GUILD MINUTES

December 9, 2010

CALL MEETING TO ORDER: President Elaine Anderson called the meeting to order at 7 PM. There were 34 members present. Two guests were introduced: Mrs. Lolley and Jean Conley.

MINUTES: Laurna made a motion to accept the minutes from the November 11, 2010 and Margaret seconded the motion. No discussion. Unanimous approval.

TREASURER: Delores Hickman presented the financial report. The current balance is $5,269.71. Income this month was $1550 from CITH raffle tickets, $22.50 from 2010 dues and $30 from 2011 member dues. A motion was made and seconded to approve the financial report as written. No discussion. Unanimous approval. Delores reported that $1403 was made from the sale of raffle tickets prior to CITH and $454 was made for the sale of tickets on the day. The total made from the sale of raffle tickets was $1,857.

OTHER OFFICER REPORTS:
VP: Ginny passed around the sign up sheet for quilts to be hung in 2011. She needs three quilts for each month.

Librarian: There was no librarian’s report. Historian: There was no historian’s report.

Program: Beth announced that Pat Martin will be joining the program committee in January 2011. Pat presented the Round Robin challenge for 2011. A sign up sheet and instructions were passed around. Pat showed the finished center block which needs to be completed by the February meeting. At that time groups will be assigned.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
CITH: This report is tabled until the January meeting.

OLD BUSINESS:
Christmas tree at the State Home: The Tuesday morning group decorated the tree in the dining room of the State Home. It looks very nice and residents appear to like it in this location. The same group will take the tree down after Christmas. Elaine thanked the Tuesday morning group for doing these tasks.

NEW BUSINESS:
Donation to the State Home: Karen made the motion to donate $800 to the State Home for 2011. Cindy seconded the motion. No discussion. Unanimous approval.

New Budget: The new budget will come out in the newsletter. Discussion and voting will take place at the January meeting.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. Jan thanked everyone for their cards
and support following her two knee
replacement surgeries.

2. Ginny invited everyone to hear the
Sandstone Singers on December 10 at
7:30 PM at the Prairie View Methodist
Church.

NEXT BUSINESS MEETING: The next
business meeting is January 13, 2011 at 7 PM.
Plan to come early (5 PM) for brown bag
social.

NEXT WORKDAY: The next workday is
January 8, 2011 at 9 AM. Don’t forget a
potluck item. This will be a work on your own
day.

ADJOURN: Ginny moved to adjourn the
meeting and Judy seconded the motion.
Passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at
7:12 PM.

BLOCK DRAWING: There was no block
drawing. Tonight was our Christmas party.

come and socialize and work on a project
anytime after 5:00 P.M. Bring a sack lunch.

Saturday, January 8, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. –
Bring a project of your own to work on.
Remember to bring a potluck dish to share.

Tips: When threading a hand needle, one side
of the needle eye is larger than the other, it is
easier to thread through the large side of the
needle eye. Also, wetting the needle eye can be
helpful.
